natural ways to help quit smoking

There are so many ways to help quit smoking when your ready. Alot of it is about making the first few steps to giving up.

Time trials are really good. If you smoked too much in the past. Set yourself an hour to go without a cigarette. Then set the time trial at 2 hours and so on. Do this during those times that you are most likely to smoke. You might even find that once you've done that hour or so, that it turns into 4 or 5 hours then 8 hours and then 12 and on to 24 then 36 and 48.

Drinking water. Drink water as much as possible, as this cuts the psychic link with smoking. Think cigarette, pick up water. There is also a fire/water dimension here. Which can be interesting if you learn about it later.

Suck a lemon. Crave a cigarette, almost painfully crave a a cigarette? Suck a lemon and feel the tingle. It will send any desire for a cigarette away.

Chewing gum. Ordinary chewing gum. If you do circum to having a cigarette, chew ordinary chewing gum. Nicotine chewing gum only adds to the addiction. Chewing normal chewing gum actually removes the nicotine and related matter from your mouth and teeth and reminds you how terrible smoking tastes and feels.

If you do light a cigarette, take one puff and put it out. If you light it again, it will taste terrible.

When you go to bed at night, think about the first cigarette you even had. Say no thankyou to whoever gave it to you, or if you chose to smoke yourself, do something else, think or say.. Id rather have a glass of water or a peice of fruit or a jube. You'll loose the desire to smoke.

Remember what it felt like before you smoked.

Pretend to be a none smoker. If you catch a bus or tram or train. Stand and be the none smoker. It wont take long until you are.

Go to places where you are not allowed to smoke. Art galleries and restaurants, the movies. Places that you cannot smoke will help you not smoke.

Swimming is great if you want to give up smoking. It keeps you fit and helps with breathing. Exercise is good, just dont over do it.

Be around people who dont smoke. This helps you to not want to smoke. A person wanting to quit smoking around other people who smoke can have a difficult time of it.

Put your cigarettes somewhere you have to climb or reach for so it is a drama to have a cigarette.

Only smoke outside and leave water or chewing gum in easy reach.

If you are really serious, put a no smoking sign up on the door and throw out any ashtrays, lighters, matches, spare anything to do with smoking.

Never smoke in the car.

Clean your teeth regularly. You can buy those little travel tooth brushes now and clean your teeth after lunch or a coffee instead of rushing out for a cigarette.

And breath. Breathing exercises are great for opening up the lungs and remembering what it is like to breath.

Shop where you cannot buy cigarettes, or use the aisle where they dont sell cigarettes.

Do your nails. Keep a nail file with you and do your nails. Paint them or go and get a nice haircut.

Put all the money you save from quitting into a money box and start saving for that overseas trip.

Dandelion tea is supposed to be a good quit smoking tea and if you change from tea to coffee or coffee to tea whilst you give up, this can help change the smoking pattern.

If you like crystals, carry a citrine. It is said to aid in the breaking of addictions and clear toxins.

Hypnotherapy works for some.

Finally, believe in yourself. The more times you try to give up smoking, the more likely you will the next time.

trooper, thats part of the trick, you have to get past the psychology of it. If your brain says its the hardest thing I ve ever done, say back to it, no its not... you argue with the arguments that keep you there. Remember what it felt like to be a none smoker. YOu can do this.

And in some contexts, you are right, but once you overcome the psychological battle, the rest is easier and that skill stays with you for life.

I did tried and it works ! Thanks for all the tips! One of the best brand names I tried (and I tried them all!) was this one made in America. They do have 2 brands, the MicroPick and the ProPick. I personally like the ProPicks better (and they are cheaper). The site is http://www.armonds.com/

Again, thanks a lot for all your tips!

thanks, if you suck the lemon when you get a craving for a cigarette, it can block the desire to have one.
