the green laundry cafe
71Now, if I hadnt have had to move out of my past home, my past relationship and past living experience, I wouldnt have had to do my washing at a laundrette, whilst I pondered my future and where it is to go.
The Green Laundry Cafe
So, stumbling around this morning, a few laps at the local pool, I decided to make the effort to do my washing and remembered this little laundrette I had seen tucked behind a local shopping centre. They had a cafe too, I'll go there.
Here I sit, with my laptop connected to their wifi. My washing on and a soy chai latte whilst I type away.
Green, Laundry, Internet Cafe.
Is how this energy efficient laundry cafe is defined.
In their brochure, the philosophy of the business is described as such -
GREEN
"We wholeheartedly believe in ecologically sustainable business. We use a filtered rain water system for our laundry services.
Our laundry machines are state of the art front loading and have the highest energy efficiency currently available on the market.
All our washing detergents are biodegradable, free of petrochemicals and allergens. We only serve organic Fair-trade coffee and tea from Global Cafe Direct."
The Chai is good, ...
The chai is good, the clothes are washed in an energy efficient washing machine in rain water, Ive had great wifi to write this little review from and all powered from an eco power service.
The proprietor makes your coffee and introduces you to the laundry machines, how they work and provides change for the inexpensive and brilliantly clean well serviced laundrette.
You can even measure your height against the wall measure whilst waiting for your coffee. Newspapers and magazines provided and a chemical free, carbon neutral dry cleaning service is provided.
All housed in an eco painted building where there is free parking and a fast fact added on the window in front of me tells me that "100km sq of solar panels is enough for the planets current power needs. Ha."
Umm an insightful and challenging thought for those other planet destroying energy companies.
